Conference Topic

MiFuN III is the third in a series of international workshops on the time dependence of structural features at the nanoscale. It covers recent research topics with strong impact on nanoscience and nanotechnology. Mechanisms for microstructural evolution range from the formation of defects, their transport, growth and transformation, to segregation, sintering and cooperative mechanisms including the controlled manipulation of grain boundaries and other microstructural elements in nanocrystalline materials. These mechanisms can lead to novel dynamic functionality, such as resistive switching or self-healing and are also determining the lifetime of nanostructured devices such as batteries or solar cells (Markus Winterer, Umberto Anselmi-Tamburini, and Dietrich Wolf, January 2023).
